Uniplex II Plus, Uniplex UBS, onGO, Uniplex AOS/AGS/UMS….
The Uniplex suite of software has existed in one form or another since the earliest days of Unix. The software company, Uniplex Limited was established in 1981 in Hemel Hempstead (UK), it went on to become part of the CP Software Group (CPSG) headquartered in California, USA.
Uniplex UBS was ported to every major Unix platform, and there were some OEM versions for Altos, IBM and SCO. To start with, Uniplex UBS was the only unix-based office automation product available. Over the years, it has grown in to an enterprise-wide text-based (and X-Windows) application with all the features you’d expect from office automation software - Email, Calendaring, Directories, WP, Spreadsheets, Database and Presentation Graphics.
The greatest feature of Uniplex UBS was (and continues to be) it’s legendary modular customization and integration features - the ability to write simple forms-based front ends to complex procedures, to add word processing to database-driven applications and to put a professional front-end menu to multiple systems. All the administration functions are built using the same unix-shell-and-forms scripting so it is easy to strip down and customize every function.
